I’m done with floor hockey and on to dancing.  This is our new unit in gym and I’ve been learning how to do “The Hustle.”  Yah, you know it…..”do the hustle….da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da”.  It’s quite funny seeing a male gym teacher trying to do “the moves” and having third graders not laugh at him.  It’s a good workout for me I’m finding out.  I’m a little sweaty after the hour is up.    I just never know what I’ll be doing in this job of mine!

Yesterday I played a game of floor hockey.  It was the teacher’s vs the sixth graders.  We played two, 10 minute periods and that didn’t sound like much, but we teachers sure were huffing and puffing after those ten minutes.  Luckily we had subs to go in for us, especially if you were playing offense.  Anyway, we teachers prevailed with a 5-0 win over those “in-shape” sixth graders.  It was a lot of fun and a refreshing way to start out your morning.

A “Festive” Saturday

Today the girls participated in a piano competition called “Festival.”  They have to play two memorized pieces of music in front of a judge.  They aren’t competing against anyone, it’s just to challenge themselves.  They score points and work towards a trophy.  This usually takes about three years to earn a trophy.  This was their second year at Festival.  They both did a great job and will find out their results at their next piano lesson.

Today I had my first “sign-of-spring.”  Jazzy was laying in the sun out on the deck.  I love the fact that it’s February 23rd and the sun is finally feeling warm.  It’s a happy day!  (Except that Stewie is at my house right now…)

Happy Birthday, George!

Today I celebrated George Washington’s birthday by having the day off.  It just worked out that the teacher’s had a workshop today, so the rest of us benefitted by enjoying a Friday off.  The girls and I declared it  ”pajama day.”  I, however, ended up taking a shower and getting dressed.  They have kept on their pajamas throughout,  but are having a fun day of just relaxing and playing with each other.

It felt good to see the sun shining all day and watch some of that snow slowly melt away.  With the end of February nearing, I just can’t help thinking of spring.

Happy Presidents Day!  Today the girls and I enjoyed our day off by going to the movies.  Both Megan & Kelly brought a friend along and we saw, “Enchanted.”  It’s a cute movie with some good old fashion laughing to go along with it.  After that, we came home and Kelly’s friend stayed over to play while Megan went over to Andra’s.  This allowed me to finish my book, “The Hobbit.”  It was an exciting adventure story which I really enjoyed.  Now I can say I’ve read a Classic!

I’m glad you enjoy my new blog-site, Sister2U.  I was just playing around with this site and figured out how to do this on my own!  I couldn’t wait to show Nate what I had done without his assistance, for once.

I’ve had such a nice weekend.  I didn’t get to my scrapbooking, but I did nearly finish my book.  Only 30 pages left and I still have tonight and tomorrow.  I played the part of June today by making homemade apple crisp and a delicious oven-baked chicken and rice dish.  Now I’m going to sit back, watch the Wild beat up on the Nashville Predators, and then call it a night.   I know I’ll have a great night of sleep just knowing that I don’t have to set my alarm tonight.

It’s been a long week and I’m so glad that it’s Friday.  Another reason to be happy, is that I have a three day weekend!  I have no plans, and plan on doing nothing.  Is that lazy or what?  Maybe I’ll get some scrapbooking done for a change or even finish my book.  See, I have goals.

Happy Friday to all and to all a good night!

You guys didn’t wait until I posted a Valentine title to start talking about it!  Okay, I spent my entire day with lots of children very excited that it’s Valentines Day, meanwhile supplying them with sugar cookies, candy hearts, frosting, suckers, and chocolate.  I also had to watch parts of E.T., Beauty and The Beast and A Charlie Brown Valentines.  Needless to say, I’m looking forward to a quiet evening.  I wish I had the energy left to make a “red meal” like Purple Girl, but the Solberg girls are maybe going to get a pizza with red sauce on it.  Close enough.  Maybe I will be creative with the pizza cutter and cut it into a heart shape.  Stewie, did you give Ginger some heart-shaped dog food?  That would be nice and much appreciated.

I watched the finals last night of the Westminster Dog Show and it was fun to see a Beagle win.  It seems those darn poodles are always finishing first.   This dog, named Uno, is so darn cute and is just a normal looking dog rather than being all shaved, puffed, and combed to death.   Snoopy fans all over the world are happy.  There you go, Purple Girl!

I’m done being a baby.  Going out last night wasn’t so bad after all.  I guess I’m tougher than I think I am.  Nate & I decided to park in the River Center parking ramp to avoid going outside.  It turned out, that we had to park outside anyway.   But it was a short walk to the skyway and it gave us a chance to see the other side of the Excel Energy Center.  We also got a glance at the Boat Show that was going on.  I didn’t let Nate stop for too long!  And best of all….The Wild won the game in over time beating the New York Islanders by a score of 4-3.  Whoo-hoo!
