Twins Opener
What a great game for the Twins tonight. It’s too bad nobody could tailgate before the game. Over at the Solberg house, our dinner was inspired by the game. Nate brought home dome-dogs (that’s what we called them) and popcorn! It felt as though we were right there sitting behind home plate.
It’s amazing that we had a sold out crowd who braved the elements to get there. Such dedicated Minnesotans. Our hot, young looking team did a great job tonight. I’m liking the new guy out in right field (Gomez) but you had to feel a little sad for Torii Hunter when Nathan struck him out. Oh well, I’m sure he’ll come back tomorrow night and show off.
Spring into Sunday
Today is our last day of spring break. Tomorrow it’s back to work and school. It’s been a fun week (that’s what the girls said) and that’s what spring break is for. It’s not really a “grown-up” break once you have kids. Today Kelly & I spent a couple of hours changing over her closet from winter to spring. We did the same yesterday for Megan. Now I only hope they get to enjoy those clothes in the near future. It’ll be another month before I switch over to t-shirts. I’m always cold!
Have a good week. Tomorrow is the Twins opener, so it must be Spring!
Sunshine on my Shoulder (makes me happy)
We’ve had two beautiful, sunny days in a row and I’m starting to have “spring thoughts.” Nate called in sick today, so we took the girls to the Science Museum as a finale to their spring break. It was alot of fun and they were thrilled to go. I have to quote Kelly from this morning, before we left. She says, “I’m glad Dad is coming with us today. That way if we have any questions about how something works, he can explain it.” What am I????? chop liver! We had a good laugh at that one.
Tonight Nate & I have our last Minnesota Wild hockey game. They’re playing Vancouver which means we’ll probably see a few fights along the way. Go Wild!!
Monday Stuff
Today was fourth day of spring break and the girls had to get their Hepatitis A shots. What a fun Mom I am. After they suffered through those, I took them shopping at the Mall. They forgot all about their sore arms. Since it is our spring break, I bought them some fun summer clothes. I ended up getting a pair of cute Capri’s pants as well. We all ended up having a fun day and tomorrow…..it’s off to the salon for new haircuts!
Easter
Our Easter this year was not your traditional day. We didn’t eat ham, or get together with family, or even have an egg-hunt. Instead, it was just the four of us having brunch at 11:30, followed by a game of Pictureka!, and then watching the girls play in the snow and try out their new bubble wands (with mittens on). With all this snow around, it’s hard to think spring. But we enjoyed our day just the same.
Horton
Today, Terry & I took the kids to see Horton Hears a Who. It was a cute movie and we laughed alot. I think hearing Steve Carell’s voice just makes me laugh anyway.
Tonight I think we’ll take it easy, build a fire and maybe watch something on tv or a movie and wait for the arrival of the Easter Bunny. Until then, enjoy your Saturday!
Egg-citing!
Tonight we mastered the art of egg dye-ing. Each year it is my job to go out and find a new kit for coloring our easter eggs. This year we ‘marbled’ our eggs. This was actually an easy way to do the eggs. A bit time consuming, but hey, we just got eight inches of snow today, we weren’t going anywhere. Instead of using those fun little tablets, we added the colored-oil packet (which was included) to a cup of water. The oil then gave it that marbled effect all over the egg. Pretty cool. I took some pictures, so very soon you can go out to my website and check them out.
Our Spring Chick
Kelly had a fun birthday. She was really surprised to see a new bike sitting in the living room. Luckily the snowstorm hasn’t arrived yet and she was able to take it out for a spin in the cal-de-sac tonight. Tomorrow, she may be riding on her sled instead. Kelly also loves her music, so we got her a CD player which she just can’t get enough of. We bought her the CD from the movie Hairspray, and I think she’s already gotten it memorized! We ended our evening going out for dinner at Chili’s. Kelly got a free sundae (which she was too full to eat) but Megan, Nate & I helped her out with that.
So Happy Birthday goes out to my Spring Chick! I can’t believe she’s eight.
Flowers
As I said in my last blog, I was hoping to see a tulip or two….well I actually got to see a dozen yellow ones today. My wonderful, thoughtful husband had been reading my blog last night and stopped at the store on his way home and surprised me with them. They’re so beautiful and they make our kitchen smell “springy.” There’s something refreshing about fresh flowers.
Spring?
We woke up this morning with 3-5 inches of snow on the ground. The good news is that by the time we came home from school, it was all melted. I guess that’s a sign of spring. Well, we’ll take any sign we can get at this point. Kelly’s birthday is on Thursday and that’s also (officially) the first day of spring. I hope I see a tulip or two by then.
