Yay, I woke up today to a sunny day and our grass is turning green.  I still need to wear a jacket, but I’m hanging on to that vision of tulips in my front yard….someday.

The girls finished their last performance last night and they both did a wonderful job (no falls) and we loved seeing them smiling and having a good time.  Makes it all worth while.

I’m very glad that it’s Friday, even though it’s been raining for two straight days!  I keep telling myself, “April showers bring May flowers.”  It’s been a tough week and a busy one.  Nate & I have been driving the girls up to the ice arena every night this week for their skating rehearsals and tonight and tomorrow night are the big shows!  We enjoy watching these and this year’s theme is “Red Carpet Affair”.  So all the performances have something to do with a movie or movie star.  Megan will be in the High School Musical performance and Kelly is in Sunny Side of the Street.  They love to be in this show and it’ll be a nice way to end my week….and a glass of wine would be good too!

I have to write and tell you about my day yesterday.  I was trying to restrain one of my students and as I did so, he kicked me in the face.  I immediately felt my cheek swelling up to my eye!  After help arrived I went to visit the nurse to get some ice.  That helped and it numbed my wound.  It was very puffy but didn’t look so bad.  Skip ahead to the next morning…..I woke up and looked in the mirror at my cheek.  The swelling has gone down but boy do I have a nice “colorful” left-side of my face.  The title of my blog is Cath in Color – it’s true!

As I walked out of school today, I could hear our gym teacher call to me, “See ya tomorrow Rocky!”  Now that made my day.

Last night was the end of our season.  They just couldn’t score the winning goals needed to move on to round two.  Having watched the last few games, I’m not sure they could get past another team anyway.  The Wild just seem to want to dump the puck into the end and chase after it, rather than passing it to one another and shooting towards the net.  They are very good at shooting from the blue-line and hoping that it’ll get through traffic.  That’s not going to win games.  So for now, I have packed The Wild flag away in hopes of a longer season next year!

Today I feel like I can let out a big sigh.  Our Solberg events are over and we’ve somehow managed to keep it all together and have great times at all of them.  In a time period of four weeks, we have celebrated two birthdays, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter and a First Communion.  Most of which required gifts, food and friends gathering at our house.  I think we may take it easy in May and hopefully enjoy some quiet evenings out on the deck (just as soon as we go out and buy some deck furniture).  Okay, one more event…shopping for that.

Welcome Newcomer” to my blog! (Do you have a beer bottle in your hand?)   I happen to know someone who is having a birthday today.  He took the day off of work and had to make his own birthday cake and do some grocery shopping too!  He’s probably looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow.  Apparently he hasn’t aged this past year because both Megan & Kelly wished him a happy 43rd birthday on his 44th.   We’re taking him out to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner and for dessert, his favorite cake….Black Forrest.  I did have time to decorate the cake for him.

Yes, I know I’ve been slacking on my blog lately.  I had a very busy week and just not much to say, I guess.  This week is going to be yet another busy one.  Nate’s birthday is on Wednesday and the girls start their skating practices nearly every night for the next two and half weeks to prepare for the big show at the end of April.  And The Wild keep playing hockey!!!  The tough part about that, is that their games don’t start until 8:00 or 9:00 at night.  I need that beauty sleep, not baggy eyes!

Thank you Stewie & Purple Girl for a fun Sunday yesterday!!

Today is a big day for The Wild.  I have my flag hanging proudly outside now that we’ve won the division.  They will either be playing Calgary or Colorado after today’s game.  Who do you choose?  On the news last night, they say they’re going to play to win, but that means Calgary!  If they lose (wink-wink) they have to play Colorado, which we seem to do better with and have a better chance of advancing.    So get out the chicken wings, celery sticks and blue cheese dressing…it’s going to be a fun game to watch!
