Yesterday was the Southwest Regional Science Fair held in Mankato, MN. Both Megan & Kelly advanced to this fair after being graded on their science fair projects at school back in January. It was a very long day for the girls. They needed to be set up at their tables by 9:00 a.m. for judging which took three and half hours. They did get one twenty-minute break, otherwise, they needed to be sitting in their chairs the rest of the time. We took a lunch break with them and then the ribbons were handed out. A purple ribbon represented top scores and you moved on to the next ceremony which they then broke down to first, second & third place in each category. Blue ribbons were the next highest scores, then green & red. Megan received a blue ribbon for her bread experiment and Kelly got a purple ribbon for her battery experiment. Exciting for both! Later that day, we attended the next awards program and were so excited when Kelly’s name was called. She won second place in the 4th grade physics category and received a medal & a gift card to Wal-Mart. We are so proud of them both for all of their hard work. Most importantly, they had fun doing it. Way to go girls!!!
