Yesterday we went over to my brother, Mark & Peggy’s house for their annual summer party/get-together. We always enjoy this party because it’s so much fun to hang out with the family one last time before summer ends and we all go back to school and work. All of us (locals) made it this year, except for Jim. It’s football season, so he was tied up with refereeing last night way up in Duluth. But the cousins, siblings, nieces & nephews and even girlfriends were all present. Mark manned the grill and cooked up some marinated chicken breasts and steaks for delicious fajitas. We had all the fixings to go with them and just a banquet of food spread out amongst the table and counter. It was an all-you-can-eat kind of day.
Later on we headed down to the fire pit and enjoyed watching the sunset over Spring Lake. It was a gorgeous night and a not a cloud in the sky. Stars were all around and the kids had fun roasting marshmallows and making smores…Nate too! He’s the master at making the perfect marshmallow. As Alton Brown would say, “Good Eats!”
There are only two days left before the summer’s official end so I think I’ll read my book, relax and take it all in. Enjoy the weekend~
