The Cat In The Hat is back…sort of. Last night I went to see the Eagle Ridge Junior High performance of Suessical the Musical. Kelly tried out for this back before Christmas and got a part in the chorus and a couple other group parts. They have been practicing since January and their opening night was this past Thursday. They had a full house and even sold tickets to those willing to sit on the floor.
This musical has a combination of many of Dr. Seuss’s stories intertwined within the story. Many of his characters are mixed in to the ensemble as well. We spotted Yertle the Turtle, The Lorax, Grinch, Horton and others. It was a very colorful set and the costumes were amazing as well. Such fun to look around at all the kids and what they had on. It was definitely “Suessical”.
Kelly did a wonderful job in her first musical. She loves to sing and dance and we could hear her practicing most every night in her bedroom. She told me she wasn’t even nervous. That came across when seeing her onstage. You could tell that she was very comfortable up there. Kelly wants to continue performing in musicals and plays and we are looking forward to that. It’s such great entertainment!
One of her other parts was playing a hunter and a cadet in the army. Here she is looking for Horton.
After the show, we hung around in back and waited for Kelly and others to come out and do a sort of “meet & greet” the cast. Kelly’s Godmother, Shelly, came to see her performance and presented Kelly with flowers. It was so nice of her to think of that and Kelly was all smiles. We are all so proud of her.
