The summer weather has arrived and we are really feeling it! Been hot for about two weeks now, but this week has been brutal. We’ve been under a heat advisory since Monday. Temperatures have been in the 90’s with heat index’s near 100. It’s just a bit much and I’m ready for this to be done. The thing about living in Minnesota is that we whine and complain all winter long and want it to be summer, but we are picky. We want low 80’s and no humidity…is that too much to ask? We feel we’ve earned those temperatures because of the cold winters we endure.
Instead of complaining, we’ve had to find a way to get outdoors and just suck it up! It gets old sitting around in the air-conditioning all day. Now, we need water!!!! Last week a few of us went to the local pool and soaked up the rays. Sheri, Karin and I only lasted about an hour before jumping into the pool with everyone else. At this point, it was only in the high 70’s! We’re wimps~
Another outing was to the beach. I sure love going to the beach these days. It’s so relaxing to bring your chair, something cold to drink and hang out with the girlfriends. If you get too hot, you go for a walk along the beach, getting your toes wet or just walk a few feet into the water. I don’t like to go too much further, for fear of the seaweed! I’m more of a pool girl with fresh, clean water rather than yucky things wrapping around my legs or stepping on rocks and sharp objects in the sand. Okay, this is me being whiny again. ha~ I like the sound at the beach, picnicking at the beach and having the option to go find a shady spot when I’ve had too much sun. It’s all good, just need that nice little boat to go along with the beach theme. Nate’s working on it~
My last adventure was last night and I didn’t have Megan and Kelly along. I got to go on a “cocktail cruise” with some friends from work. We met our friend Pat (she’s our science specialist at school) at her home on lovely Prior Lake.
We brought along some snacks and beverages for the boat ride and headed out around 6:15 that evening. The sun was still shining and it was 90 degrees! Pat took us all around this beautiful lake. We stopped and chatted in some places and then when it started getting warm, we got the boat going and felt the breeze in our hair and instantly cooled down.
I love these cocktail cruises, because you just glide along at a nice speed and enjoy the sights and sounds around you. And of course, you have to wave to everyone because that is boating etiquette. Fun and smiling all the time!
Jean had some issues with her “huggie” that went on her beer. She put it on upside down and then Pat showed her the right way by flipping the beer bottle. Not a good idea, because the beer was already open! Our first spill of the evening. Nice Jean~
We saw some gorgeous homes while on our tour and there were plenty for sale. I took some pictures of them to show Nate when I got home. He looked them up and they are all a million dollars plus! Okay, guess I’ll have to settle for our little Sunset Pond for a while longer. I loved all the landscaping that these homes have. Really done nicely and fun to look at and just dream.
This next home is not for sale but I thought it looked like a witches house. Pat says it reminds her of the Psycho house. Maybe if it wasn’t purple, we’d be okay with this one. Just doesn’t look right on a lake but then again…everyone knows when you say, “you know that purple house?”…
Here’s a home with neat landscaping. I love the tree right in the middle with the curved trunk. Amazing how that grew there. Very unique.
By the time we finished our tour, the sun was setting and I couldn’t resist taking some photo’s of that. They are always the prettiest pictures and we all love sunsets.
It was time to say goodbye. We had a wonderful time. Thank you Pat! Can we come back soon? It’s the Minnesota whiner in me~
