This week in Burnsville, it was Homecoming Week. Both girls really got into the spirit of it at their schools. Each day this past week, had a theme to it. Monday was 80’s day, Tuesday was Western day, Wednesday was Patriotic day, Thursday was Dress Your Best day, and of course Friday was Blaze day! They had a lot of fun at school with pep-fests, Powderpuff football games, and the crowning of the Homecoming King & Queen. The memories of high school came flooding back for Nate and I. Such a fun week!
Friday night was the football game. It was Burnsville Blaze vs Lakeville North. It was a beautiful night for a football game with an unseasonably warm temperature of 80 degrees. The Blaze came out on top with a score of 14-3. Always nice to win your homecoming.
Tonight is the homecoming dance. Megan and 16 of her friends went together as a large group. Some had dates, others were okay with going single. They all stay together so no one feels left out. It’s a nice way to go. Megan did have a date for the dance. His name is Isaiah and he is also a 10th grader that Megan is good friends with. About a month ago, she was hanging out with him at his house and he talked her into going for a walk at a local park near his house. When she got down there, he surprised her by asking her to the dance in flowers that he had laid out on the path. So cute! She said yes, and then the hunt for a dress was on.
It was time to get primped and ready for the night. Megan bought fake nails for a french manicure look. These things look so real like she had them done by a manicurist.
Next, it was on to “Kelly’s Salon” for a new hairstyle. The bathroom was set up just like a salon, complete with a chair, styling tools and sprays of all sorts. It took Kelly about an hour to do Megan’s curls and get the right look. I loved peeking in on them, and listening in a little as well. Sister bonding time…It was a Mom moment, that I’ll never forget.
Before the dance tonight, the whole group met at Hidden Valley Park for pictures. It was neat to see everyone so dressed up and all these happy faces in one place. The fall colors made a beautiful backdrop for picture taking. I think Kelly and I took around 100 pictures! haha. Megan wore a very pretty aqua colored dress with silver gems and she found a tie for Isaiah to match.
Everyone in the group was so colorful. One of the girls suggested they line up in rainbow order for a picture. Of course, the guys said, “We don’t know what rainbow order is?” So Grace took charged and lined them up for us.
This group of friends were having a good time and they hadn’t even gotten to the dance yet. After pictures, they headed to a local Italian restaurant called, “Guiseppe’s” and then it would be off to the dance for an evening of good times with friends.
What a great way to end homecoming week.
