Another Spring Vernal Equinox has come and gone and therefore, so has Kelly’s birthday. She is our “first day of spring” baby and is not even close to a baby anymore. Fifteen years have gone by so fast, and we have watched her grow into such a beautiful young lady, inside and out.
Her birthday was on Friday, so Nate was at work and Megan was getting a manicure/pedicure with her girlfriend, who she is going on spring break with on Saturday. They needed to prep. Kelly didn’t want to spend the day just sitting around, so she and I made plans to hit the newest Outlet Mall in Eagan. Its a girls dream to go shopping on her birthday.
It was a pretty nice, 50 degree day, so walking around outside felt good. Kelly ended up buying three new summer tops and I just window shopped. Since this was our first time here, we weren’t sure what stores were even out here. I found a store that I could shop at, but Kelly wouldn’t let me go in. She said it was her day, not mine. Hmm…okay, but I’ll be back.
After a day of shopping and all that fresh air, it was time to head out for dinner. Kelly chose a place called Tavern Grill in Edina. We’ve been to this restaurant at other locations and know that their food is delicious. The girls and I all had pasta dishes that were fabulous and Nate loved his Fish-n-Chips. He’s a Wisconsin boy and still loves his Friday Fish Fry’s.
When we returned home, Kelly had a few presents waiting for her and a special dessert treat, that we were all too full to eat, but did anyway. We had to sing Happy Birthday right?! She is having her birthday party with friends next Saturday and I will make her birthday cake for that. Since it is the first day of spring, I found a fun recipe called, “Spring Confetti Bars.” They were so cute, festive and tasted delicious. We cut her a piece and put a candle in it. It stuck very nicely because of the gooey marshmallow on top.
Kelly got some fun gifts this year. She’s really been getting into working out lately and has plans to walk around the pond more often this spring/summer when the weather warms up. A nice set of weights and ankle weights were just what she needs. She has to keep that “Princess Jasmine” shape. Speaking of Jasmine…my friend Sheri gave me the idea that we should buy her a Jasmine doll and give it to her for her birthday. We loved this plan and I found one through Amazon. Kelly laughed when she opened it up. Great idea Sheri!
As you know…Kelly loves to shop and like me…loves shoes. As luck would have it, she and I wear the same size shoe, so shopping for these was easy. And…I like them, so maybe she’ll share? Fun summer shoes!
That was the end of Kelly’s actual birthday, but it continued into Saturday as we met Shelly (Kelly’s Godmother) at Jensen’s Cafe in Burnsville, for a little brunch and girl chat. It’s always such a wonderful time hanging out with her and catching up with what’s going on in her life and with their family. She used to live next door to us, so we always need to know what her boys are up to now that they’re in college. She surprised Kelly with a CD of the musical, “Into the Woods”. This is a movie that Kelly and I went to and she loved it. We both enjoyed the music in it, so she was thrilled to get this gift. So thoughtful Shelly and right up Kelly’s alley these days.
That is it for Kelly’s birthday for now. Next weekend, she celebrates again with her friends and we will be hosting a pizza party and sleepover for a bunch of teenagers. Looking forward to that. 🙂
Happy Birthday Kelly! We love you!
